At least I hope that's what Mark McGowan was effectively doing today in Kalamunda.Grand and statesmanlike though his challenge to Barnett to take local council mergers to an election sounds, it only works if there is clear distinction between the positions of the two major parties.
I am heartened by what Labor has said and done in the past month or so, but we need to keep a careful eye on things to make sure that the Labor policy on local government is a viable and distinctly-different alternative to Barnett's arrogance.
