This is the personal blog of Ian Ker, who was Councillor for the South Ward of the Town of Vincent from 1995 to 2009. I have been a resident of this area since 1985. This blog was originally conceived as a way of letting residents of Vincent know what I have been doing and sharing thoughts on important issues. I can now use it to sound off about things that concern me.

If you want to contact me, my e-mail is still ian_ker@hotmail.com or post a comment on this blog.

Celebrating The Dam Busters

I call Cecilia Brooke, Cliff Collinson and Ian Critchley the 'Dam Busters' because their tireless work in getting people out to vote in South Perth, East Fremantle and Kwinana was crucial to breaching the dam of silence, obfuscation and resignation to the 'inevitable' - and has led to a flood sweeping all before it.

WALGA has withdrawn its support for the so-called reform process, calling it 'flawed beyond repair'.

The Premier has said he is 'flying the white flag', although it is not yet clear that he is willing to rescind the Governor's Orders still affecting 14 local governments.

Bassendean and Mundaring Councils have unanimously withdrawn from the shambles of a process.

Cockburn and Kalamunda will shortly do so.

Even the Canning Commissioners, appointed by Minister Simpson, have acceded to a resolution passed by electors on 13th January and have written to Simpson asking for the Governor’s orders be rescinded and the reform process to be abandoned.

The flood is rapidly becoming a tsunami.
