This is the personal blog of Ian Ker, who was Councillor for the South Ward of the Town of Vincent from 1995 to 2009. I have been a resident of this area since 1985. This blog was originally conceived as a way of letting residents of Vincent know what I have been doing and sharing thoughts on important issues. I can now use it to sound off about things that concern me.

If you want to contact me, my e-mail is still ian_ker@hotmail.com or post a comment on this blog.

The West Joins The Fray

Two opinion pieces in today's West Australian (from Gareth Parker and Kate Emery) are the strongest statement yet in WA's only local daily newspaper. The message is getting out there!

We have already noted on this blog that Barnett is hanging Simpson out to dry. Although this morning's statement on ABC radio (very strange way of announcing such an important policy shift) takes some personal responsibility, it will be left to Simpson to clear up the mess.

And I have one fundamental argument with Kate Emery. She fails to mention that all the evidence shows that we would have been even worse off if the forced amalgamations had gone ahead. Barnett and Simpson consistently failed to make the case for their so-called reform for a very simple reason - there wasn't one.
