Mainstream media (honourable exception for the ABC, which has followed the issue from the start) suddenly realises that something important is happening! Not only that, but also reported in Queensland (where they have experience of forced amalgamations and community-initiated demergers) and New South Wales (where the Liberal government is currently pushing amalgamations - and there is an election next month!).
We in WA might well be punching above our weight here - and even influencing what happens in other states.

Getting better by the hour :-)
ReplyDeleteThis just looks like the usual negative and/or dramatic response media does for the next day's news. Overall they've not been that interested in this process. I also can't see how this is going to derail anything - you have to admit the state seems to counter every set back! Presumably its because it is, at the end of the day, winning.
ReplyDeleteWell, if you count as winning being likely only to get 30 to 24 reduction (they won't get western suburbs or City of Perth Act) when they were aiming for 30 to 15 or 16, then I guess they are 'winning'. But it will be a pyrrhic victory for them - and the rest of us lose as well.
