This is the personal blog of Ian Ker, who was Councillor for the South Ward of the Town of Vincent from 1995 to 2009. I have been a resident of this area since 1985. This blog was originally conceived as a way of letting residents of Vincent know what I have been doing and sharing thoughts on important issues. I can now use it to sound off about things that concern me.

If you want to contact me, my e-mail is still ian_ker@hotmail.com or post a comment on this blog.

East Fremantle Within Touching Distance

Time for biting the fingernails in South Perth, but better for South Perth electors to 'bite the bullet' by putting in the effort to complete and return their voting packages if they haven't already done so.

Today's figures for South Perth actually show a slight upward shift from the overall trend, which is encouraging. Schools are back, so dormant networks are starting to have an impact perhaps. Item in Southern Gazette might help, too - although it would help more if it mentioned that votes can be lodged in person at the South Perth Civic Centre, too.

City of Cockburn                       35.25%
Town of East Fremantle          49.71%
City of Kwinana                         50.96%
City of South Perth                   46.25%
Town of Victoria Park              35.77%

Votes still needed for 50% (but remember need to add a bit for invalid votes). On the other hand, the Electoral Commission figures are only for votes received via Australia Post. They do not include votes lodged at the polling places - and we don't know how many of these votes there are.

City of Cockburn                          9,127
Town of East Fremantle                  16
City of Kwinana                             -175
City of South Perth                     1,004
Town of Victoria Park                2,865
