In reports of his latest reported ranting, Col Pot has apparently asserted that local government is the main source of corruption - at least that's what the West Australian would have us believe. But even Col doesn't actually go that far! What he apparently said was: "I don't deny you get the odd element of corruption - most of it has actually been in local government."
Somehow, the West managed to translate that into a headline: "Councils main source of corruption: Barnett"
Now, I'm not often a defender of Barnett, but in this instance it does seem that he has been grossly misrepresented. Later in the same piece, he is quoted as saying; "I don't believe there is widespread political or corporate corruption in Western Australia. I just don't see any evidence of it."
This so-called journalism (apparently stemming from AAP) is on a par with the recent Sunday Times piece (http://ianrker-vincent.blogspot.com.au/2015/02/homers-dummy-spit-and-sunday-times-bias.html) and raise the question of where Western Australians are supposed to get reasonably objective news reporting.
